I am so excited for this moment! The moment I am able to share with you the amazing cover for Karen Ann Hopkins new book Lamb to the Slaughter. Karen is the author of the YA Temptation series, published by Harlequin Teen, but Lamb to the Slaughter, an adult Amish mystery, will be self-published by Karen in March.
Here is the awesome sounding synopsis for Lamb to the Slaughter:
Lamb to the Slaughter is a story about the intertwining lives of three unlikely people in an Indiana Amish Community and the devastating results when a rebellious teenage girl is found shot to death in a corn field during the harvest.
Serenity Adams is the newly elected young sheriff in the country town of Blood Rock and besides dealing with the threatening behavior of her predecessor, she now has a dead Amish girl on her plate. At first glance, the case seems obvious. The poor girl was probably accidental shot during hunting season, but when the elders of the Amish community and even the girl’s parents react with uncaring subdued behavior, Serenity becomes suspicious. As she delves deeper into the secretive community that she grew up beside, she discovers a gruesome crime from the past that may very well be related to the Amish girl’s shooting.
Serenity enlists the help of the handsome bad-boy building contractor, Daniel Bachman, who left the Amish when he was nineteen and has his own dark reasons to help the spunky sheriff solve the crime that the family and friends who shunned him are trying desperately to cover up. Serenity’s persistence leads her to a stunning discovery that not only threatens to destroy her blossoming romance with Daniel, but may even take her life in the end.
Doesn't the plot sound intriguing? I was sucked in as soon as I read it.

Doesn't it look awesome? You can feel the mystery in that cover. I can't wait to read it!

I hate romance novels. They're all unrealistic and give people expectations that can't possibly be achieved. However, every now and then, a novel will pop up that breaks the stereotypes and I will have to read it.
Karen Ann Hopkins did that with three novels, the latest of which is Forever, the final book in her Temptation trilogy.
The Amazon description of this book reads: All I want is my happily-ever-after.
That's all I've wanted since meeting Noah Miller.
From the day we met, the world has tried to keep Noah and me from being together, but now that I'm carrying his child, no one will be able to tear us apart. Or so I hope. But Noah and I have made some mistakes along the way, and the consequences are impacting the people we love. Worse, there's a storm on the horizon, and it's sure to cause serious devastation.
If we can get through this, we'll finally be Rose and Noah—a family, forever.
But first we have to survive the road ahead. And happily-ever-after is a long way off.
Forever is told in multiple viewpoints; Rose, Noah, Sam and Sarah. By the third book, Sam's character has become a little less necessary, other than to add the annoying, overprotective brother to the mix. The same goes for the younger brother, whom we very rarely even see throughout any of the series, unless he needs to add a little extra banter or witty advice.
However, adding Sarah into the mix of main voices was a very good move. It gave an insight into the Amish community and how one very big mistake can affect a lot more people than we realize, and some of the consequences of our actions could be more devastating than we could ever imagine.
The whole book focuses around the one mistake that Rose and Noah made in the last book, and how they are going to handle the situation. When a solution is finally reached, things only get worse, at least for awhile. Now, they're far from family and everything seems to be crumbling around them. They have to work together and try to make it.
Hopkins ends the series with a good lesson. Things aren't always as black and white as we would like them to be. And, sometimes, even the best decisions can have unforeseen consequences. I would encourage everyone, romance fan or not, to read this book.
